I am using Pressflow ( with Varnish + memchache + Cloudflare CDN activated), since jStat makes use of too much db access its a good candidate to use memory caching - so my (noob) question is does it uses memcache by default or does a bin needs to be created in settings.php for that.

My current relevant settings.php section is :

# Varnish reverse proxy on localhost
$conf['reverse_proxy'] = TRUE;

$conf['cache_inc'] = './sites/all/modules/memcache/memcache.inc';
$conf['memcache_servers'] = array(

      	 );

Actually, in its current architecture, jStats is not a good candidate for memory caching. The data of the {jstats_accesslog} table must contain the log of all the entries of the last 48h (by default, configurable) for the results to be meaningfull, and that data can't be recreated. This means that you can't flush your memcache server, ever, or you lose your "most viewed recently" blocks.

#1414220: Functionality from unreleased module statistics_js is the bug discussing (between various other things) a change in the architecture that would queue different entries in memcache, and populate the database table in a cron run, but it didn't result in a reviewable patch yet.
