Since Drupal 8.0 is on the horizon, this is the meta issue for conversion to D8...

Key points:

  1. Need to decide on approach regarding mechanism by which IP Login would best work in D8 with Symfony.
  2. I'm assuming we'll be using the 7.x-3.x branch as a starting point, however this has a hard dependency on field_ipaddress -- that module's progress is most likely a blocker. UPDATE: issue opened for IP Address Field: #2014471: Add Drupal 7 migration of IP Address Field
  3. The ip_address() function has been replaced.
  4. Upgrade path consideratons.
  5. Views in core plus configuration management changes will have impacts
