What does "flush" do?

How do I know what numbers to start and end with in the update?

How do I know I have the most up-to-date data?

If I don't have shell access to the hosting, how do I run fetchdb.sh?

please try with beta-3. flush is no longer an option, the update process has been improved, and there are some much better instructions for updating the database in the modules admin pages.
