I added the Inline Comments field and got that error and a WSOD:

Fatal error: [] operator not supported for strings in /includes/common.inc on line 2426

This bug appears to be a duplicate of #1669660: Error upon adding inline ajax comment field. We are also experiencing this problem when we try to use views_embed_view() to place this view inside a node.tpl.php file.
