With most applications that have the ability to select multiple items, one can click the first item and then Shift+click the last item. This will select all items in between those two items. It would be nice to be able to do that and then click the > button to move all of those items.

The 2.x version allows you to select and move all items at once. This page has more info on new features in the 2.x version. http://drupal.org/node/1862900

Thanks, herd45. Would you say the 2.x DEV version is safe enough to use? I'll give it a shot.

herd45,
I do not want to move all items, but select all items between the first click and the shift+click.

Another option would be if you could select the parent item and press a button to move the parent AND ALL OF ITS CHILDREN items into the other pane.

The 2.x version allows you to select a range of items by using shift, just like you describe. You can also randomly select multiple items by using control+click.

Myself and the developer tested it thoroughly on multiple browsers/OS without any problems. There haven't been any complaints from the others who have downloaded it so far.

I am running the 7.x-2.x-dev version on Drupal 7.19 (will install 7.20 soon) and using Google Chrome. I also tried IE 8. When I perform a shift click everything between is highlighted, but not actually the items in the pane. Then, when I move the highlighted items, it only moved the fist and last items I clicked, not anything in between.

Please see how the shift+click highlights. You can see that only the first and last is actually highlighted by the component:

Only the first and last gets moved:

I am having this same problem with not being able to highlight and move multiple selections at once. We have a large selection list so this would be great if it worked. Noticed no updates on this in 2014. Is there a fix of any kind or alternative option? Thanks.

This patch adds shift click select functionality for both add and remove. I have tested it in IE 8, FF 31.0, and chrome 36.0 and it works with a single select field or more than one on the same page.

I added some css to suppress text highlighting within the uls (also attributes to make it IE friendly), as this makes it significantly easier to understand what is going on when you shift click. This is a debatable addition, as it may be more of a personal preference.

This patch works well with one small caveat. If OptGroups are used one can shift-click and select OptGroups headings under the All tab and copy them over to the selected group on the right panel. The OptGroup can then not be removed from the right panel and the category is gone from the left panel. We need to exclude these from being selected.

added a test to make sure it isn't an opt group before allowing the selection. Re rolled the patch against the newer version of the dev branch with only the click updates and css updates.

I combined this feature together with other improvements, see https://www.drupal.org/node/2592477
