As I've noticed Your (very useful) module produces no thumbnail files for image preview. Nice for simple purposes (and as the first step of this module) but not so for completely replacing of the ancient image.module. Please, look at this feature in Your next release!

+10 to this fundamental for many of us.

Maybe imagemagick can be used to resize pictures into thumbnails and other few user-defined sizes similarly to what Image.module does (also borrowed by upload_image.mod)?

There is a Summer of Code project to create an imagemagick module that might be worth watching (http://groups.drupal.org/soc-imagemagick).

Thumbnails will not be a feature of imagefield. It offers image scaling on upload.
If you are looking for a thumbnail solution I would suggest using imagecache. You can theme in your
thumbnails as needed with it.

I'm setting this as a won't fix as my suggested alternative is see imagecache. Its coming along slowly and steadily. There are still some issues with multisite installs that need resolving with it though.
