Perhaps related to issue http://drupal.org/node/468554 but not the same. When the number of imagefield uploads is set to unlimited in the content-type edit form the default display of inputs on the node (say blog) edit form is one, then others are added subsequently upon user request. Is it possible to make this the default display even if the imagefield upload number is set to a specific numeral? Having five or more imagefield inputs showing up on a node edit form really does elongate the form unnecessarily.

CCK is actually in charge of displaying how many fields are visible at once, so it'd be better asked there. In fact, after doing a search in the CCK issue queue, it looks like there's an in-progress patch that adds this functionality but has floundered. See #320313: CCK multiple values: two empty fields showing up - make it one or none?.

I'm marking this fixed as a support request (to keep it visible in the queue), but it's a duplicate of #320313.
