When I use a capital "X" while configuring max (and presumably min) resolution settings for a cck image field, I get a lot of error messages when I attempt to upload an image. When I use a lower case "x" or when I leave the field at "0" I do not get the errors.

Thanks, this fits in with #329779: Min/max resolution not validated strictly enough, but is a slightly different request. They'll probably be fixed together.
