Overview

Image Tag aims to be the image tagging solution for Drupal, providing a flexible suite of modules for "tagging" areas in an image. Other examples of this include Facebook, Flickr, iPhoto, etc.

The main Image Tag module provides a fieldable image tag entity that defines the bounding box of a tag. It will be possible to define any number of tag types with different fields. Possible examples may include: user tag, simple text annotation tag, product tag to tag multiple products in one image.

Dev status

I'm still in the early stages of development on this. I am developing for D8 using native D8 concepts like entities, CMI, etc.
The basic entity is mostly framed out. The UI needs a lot more work.
I will probably do a dev release once the UI is functional, with a beta to follow when I feel like things are reasonably stable.

Dev goals include

  • 'Image Tag User' module providing basic user tag type & glue code.
  • 'Image Tag Annotation' module providing a basic annotation tag.
  • 'Image Tag Crop' module allowing for easy use of cropped areas with full image style support.
  • Image style actions for centering on points of interest.
  • Views integration
  • Rules integration
  • Extensible tagging UI
  • Tagging UI provided as field formatter.
  • UI will fully support image style derivatives while mapping tags correctly.
  • Maybe an field & widget if there's a good use case.
  • Future possibilities include integrations with computer vision libraries to do things such as face detection / recognition.

More detailed roadmap to come soon...
