this looks like a really interesting project. I was looking for automated ways to setup stock systems.
use case:
I was particularly interested in something that could be city specific.

miami.mydomain.com
washingtondc.mydomain.com
city.mydomain.com
...

All of the sites would look the same, same CCK... but separate sites and content.

Have you checked the Domain Access module?
It seems to me that it would better fit your case.

actually, I use Domain Access on another project. I was planning on using this module for this project anyway. But always looking for other ideas. But FYI... I was looking for something like the UseCase I discuss above, that does a multisite kind of setup. I would prefer to have separate subdomains as oppose to the Domain Access version which is still one site.
