I'm running Drupal HEAD, I grabbed a copy of htmlarea from CVS and when I went into /admin/modules to enable it I got a 500 Internal Server Error. Renaming the htmlarea.module to htmlarea.module_ cleared up the problem but, obviously, I couldn't enable the module. The server is running Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat Linux) PHP/5.0.4.
When I get a little time I'll try to track down the problem.

drewish commentedThe problems stems from the implementation of the, undocumented, form_alter hook. The first argument is supposed to be the form id and the second, the form array. I've attached a patch to correct the parameters and resolve the bug.
drewish commentedUpdated the patch, _form_build() now requires two parameters (though I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be calling that ;))
gordon commentedI have removed the _build_form() call from hook_alter_form(). I was able to do this because the the #parent is now built before the call to this hook.
Can someone please check the embeded textareas eg. edit[work][log] instead of just edit[log]. I think this will work but I am not 100%, and I was unable to find one.
