The specific code for Drupal.org is drupalorg_map_content() in http://drupalcode.org/viewvc/drupal/contributions/modules/drupalorg/drup... and surrounding code. The Drupal.org stuff is a bit custom, since it highlights users' actions specific to the site.

#1013778: Views integration should provide a lot of options when combined with openlayers and everything else views does.
