I'm trying to post a comment on g.d.o, and I get "Your submission has triggered the spam filter and will not be accepted.". However, there's no captcha or other validation for me to prove I'm a real user. I just get a preview button that keeps failing the same way.
I searched for "spam" in the "groups.drupal.org" component in this issue queue and found no hits, but apologies in advance if this is duplicate somewhere...
Thanks,
-Derek

morbus iffOn my own sites, I've been receiving this *quite* a bit lately, and I believe, if you watch the watchdogs, it's because Mollom isn't able to contact or reach the CAPTCHA-generating image server.

dwwInteresting. After waiting a while and trying again, I got a captcha rendered and was able to post a comment on g.d.o, so it sounds like Morbus's diagnosis was accurate (I no longer have admin perms on g.d.o so I can't look at the watchdog myself without querying the DB directly). I guess we could call this "fixed", but it seems like major UI #fail in mollom -- perhaps it should be moved there (unless someone already knows about an existing issue about it).

avpadernoThere is already a report in Mollom issue queue (see #353588: Your submission has triggered the installed spam filter and will not be accepted. ). The reported problem is the same I had, until it got temporary resolved by changing the Mollom settings on association.drupal.org.

adamfranco commentedI've been having this problem on g.d.o for the past two hours. The first time I hit preview I was able to see the CAPTCHA, but after that I no longer see the CAPTCHA and just get the "Your submission has triggered the spam filter and will not be accepted." error with no way to prove that I am human.

dave reidWe had some Mollom servers-side captcha-server-lists that were messed up. They should be fixed now, but anyone using the module (including g.d.o) needs to refresh the cached list of servers. You can do that by going to admin/settings/mollom and submitting the form.

moshe weitzman commentedHi Dave. Thanks for the update. I submitted that form.
If you look at our ham/spam chart at http://groups.drupal.org/admin/settings/mollom, you will see that we are getting much more ham than spam. That tells me that 80% of the time we issue a CAPTCHA it is successfully passed. Does that mean we are not doing a good job during initial analysis? Shouldn't we be letting more posts through without any captcha? I don't think the reporting actually says how many posts were classified as ham immediately. In general, this graphic is not at all clear to me.

dries commentedIt would be great if in future, you can share Mollom session IDs of users that were incorrectly blocked -- Mollom logs those in the watchdog. If we have a Mollom session ID, we can look up what happened.
Somehow I lost my admin access to g.d.o -- can that be restored? I can try to dig up some session IDs myself when I'm back from vacation next week.

morbus iffDries - where in the watchdog is that logged? I have a misclassified ham (that DID eventually get posted) in my mollom log, but all I see is the following:

dries commentedWe spent some more time looking into this, and we believe we fixed the problem in the Mollom backend.
To fix this problem, we made some improvements to the Mollom module the first part of the week. That let us to discover an issue with the Mollom backend that we fixed the second part of the week.
All g.d.o users that were incorrectly blocked actually had a high user reputation (i.e. trusted by Mollom), but they still triggered the spam filter because they posted the same content a number of times in a short time span. We have adjusted our algorithms to be less aggressive.
The problem should be fixed now, but let me know if it stills happens.
@Morbus, you have to update to DRUPAL-6--1 HEAD (not released yet) to get the extra logging. I will try to make a new release shortly.
@greggles thanks for upgrading the Mollom module and feeding us with some cases to look at.

marcnavarro commentedTrouble i still going on for GDO. I can't post anything!
gregglesWe are currently tracking this in #684424: Am being totally blocked by Mollom on GDO.

kenyan commentedNearly a year on and I cannot post anything in groups either.
This is so annoying. Does g.d.o have to use mollom?
Surely there must be some way to allow those of us with this issue to post?
greggles@kenyan, your account should be fixed.
More or less annoying than spam comments arriving in your inbox?
Yes. Or some other preventive solution that works against human spammers.
kenyan commentedYes it is!
Thanks to whoever got it fixed.
And I do understand the need for mollom et al. I was just getting sore pounding my head into the keyboard.
Cheers.
