There used to be a handy block on the right sidebar of groups.drupal.org that listed all the groups you belonged to. This recently seems to have vanished. Can we have it back? I am subscribed to about ... I don't know, probably 10 groups, and regularly used this navigation to find them.
I realize that the right sidebar is kind of full, but for me, this block is a lot more important than the "recent additions" (new groups), "group organizers" (this could just be a link in the top Group block), or "hot content" blocks.
Just my 2 cents... I miss it!

tvn commentedThis probably happened during #969940: Deploy bluecheese on groups.drupal.org The block is now shown only on the front page. Definitely want to see it on other pages as well, used it all the time for navigation. So +1!

gregglesHow about we enable the block and make it per-user and hide it by default?
Then people who want it can enable it?
We could do similar things for a few other handy blocks to keep the default configuration a little lightweight on blocks but provide power tools to those who like to be a little more...overwhelmed with info like you and me :)

jhodgdonGreat idea!
Actually, I went down the right sidebar as it is now, and I think I would personally choose to disable quite a few of the blocks. So if we made them all (maybe except for the main Group block at the top) per-user configurable, that would probably be good.
The only caveat is that I'm not sure everyone would know they could turn blocks on and off. So maybe we could make a one-line block (enabled by default and placed near the top, but with the ability to be disabled) that says something like:
[EDIT: removed typo at end of suggested block]

drummThe 2010 redesign wasn't just a theme, it also attempted to tackle the navigation and some top-level pages. Pages should be focused; we don't want the same giant sidebar everywhere.
There already are groups just turning off the sidebar for their pages. I think http://groups.drupal.org/unread deserves the whole page width. This will be even more important as we move toward Drupal.org sites being responsive for all screen sizes.
#1074224: Redesign groups homepage for authenticated users. actually seems to cover a handful of top-level pages and navigation. I think we should discuss getting those pages well-done there. http://groups.drupal.org/groups/my is important enough to be 1 click away from all pages, not 2.
