Description
This module provides a searchable view of Group Membership and allows authorised users to add/remove membership and admin status. It offers search and display of users' real names, user names and email addresses, with flexible access control.
Status
No Drupal 7 or Drupal 8 versions currently planned.
Version 2 Enhancements over Version 1
- Much more flexible configuration and access control.
- The module can be used to provide a searchable member list (no admin access) for users/members.
- Can promote/demote administrators, including make user member+admin in a single pass.
- Separate help pages can be configured for group admins, members and visitors.
- Flexible access control, e.g. allow non-members to view/search for admins but not view member list, or allow members to view/search member-list but not non-members list. Access to sensitive data (real names and email addresses) can be limited in a similar way (see screenshot.)
- Can work with users' real-name data held in standard Profile.
- Content Profile integration is now fully configurable.
- Optionally adds a "Members" tab to the node view ("home page") of a Group.
Version 1 Features
- Provides an alternative interface for adding and removing group members, intended to be quicker/easier to use by Group Administrators.
- Allows search by partial user name or email address to find members and/or non-members of a group.
- Can optionally use (search and display) first-name and last-name fields configured via Content Profile module.
- Provides for display of help text (see screenshot) using any existing node, with multi-language support (a translated node is used if available.)
Please read the documentation for further information.
Upgrading from V1 to V2
- The menu link to GA's configuration page now appears under Organic groups rather than Site configuration. The path is (site)/admin/og/groupadmin.
- No database update required (no need to run update.php). However, you will need to set a new configuration for GA, as the configuration options have changed considerably. In particular, make sure that the Access control settings meet your needs.
Notes
- If you do not have the Views OG integration module activated, then there may be no obvious route to the GroupAdmin page. By default it is at (site)/og/users/123/groupadmin where 123 is the node number of a Group node. See GA's configuration page for other options.
Real names
Users' real names can be handled if stored with either Drupal's standard Profile module or Content Profile. Both single field (full-name) and two fields (first-name, last-name) configurations are possible. See documentation for further information.
NOTE: There are currently performance issues when using GroupAdmin's Content Profile support with large numbers of users/groups. See #1146090: Performance issues, poor queries.
