lobsterr commentedIt seems you followed documentation correctly. Could you double check that group operations block is assigned to the sidebar region ?
taxelson@umassp.edu commentedIt definitely is. I have to set to only appear for the landing page of the team site that I am working with now. That page does not require authentication but I'm authenticated as an outsider user already.
lobsterr commented1) I would find a reason why "Group operations" block is not displayed. It is not related to grequest module. If it is displayed correctly follow the next step.
2) To see an option "Request membership" you shouldn't be a member of the group and you must have a permission to "Request membership".
Basically that is all.

taxelson@umassp.edu commentedI also tried noticed the "select a group value" box and changed that to Group from URL. I removed the alias from my group node so that the URL now shows .../group/11 and now the group controls show in the sidebar but the only thing I'm seeing as far as links in that block is the dropdown for adding content (add article, add notification, add...., leave group).
In another basic page, I set the URL alias to be .../group/11/membership and added the group operations block to that page but it still does not show for anonymous or authenticated users (outsiders).

taxelson@umassp.edu commentedAh!! Got it. I needed to allow anonymous users and authenticated users to view the group itself. Now the Request Membership link does appear on the group controls block.
Thanks for your help!
