As more and more Drupal sites set themselves up behind CDNs and Varnish (or other reverse-proxies), the statistics module becomes increasingly innacurate for doing things like surfacing popular content, let alone tracking views. We should integrate!

I liked the code above, and our new GAFeed class will make this even easier with per-request caching and the ability of developers to override/set the caching expiration. I don't know how much more I want to code in relation to Statistics though (the scope goals of this module are quite tight, at least for the next couple of major releases). However, I'm chewing on the possibilities :)
