Blank pages when enabling module - preg_match errors in log

This seems to be a duplicate of #399368: Enabling Glossify is causing the body content of nodes to disappear., except it applies to the 5.x version.

preg_match() [<a href='function.preg-match'>function.preg-match</a>]: Unknown modifier '5' in /path/to/site/sites/all/modules/glossify/glossify.module  on line 102.

Any chance for a fixed 5.x release to match the fixes in the 6.x branch?
