This module allows you to display the Git branch or tag of a project in the UI without using exec(). You can define the path of multiple Git repositories so you can keep track of what branch and commit hash you are working on.
The module provides the Git information in the site's Status Report and also provides a block you can place to keep the info accessible wherever you want.
This module is in Beta status. It has some improvements that are needed to bring it up to good standards. Please see the issue queue to help out.
Need a more robust solution? See the Git Info Report. This module is meant to be a bit more lightweight and not require the use exec().
