The form field on the project node says to do:
git clone git://git.drupal.org/project/1027839.git

This results in:

git clone git://git.drupal.org/project/1027839.git
Initialized empty Git repository in /Users/webchick/Desktop/1027839/.git/
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly

I'm actually wondering if we should just ditch this field, and simply make sure #1026490: New projects do not have Git Instructions tab gets fixed instead.
