Alan Cooney commentedHi Dave,
The column is aligning correctly for me. What browser are you using?
To change the color of the Site Description find the following in your code:
Then replace the color value (#eee) with whatever color you want, such as white (#FFF). See http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html for more hex code colors to put here.
Also you may find http://www.glish.com/css/7.asp useful for your fluid width layout.
I hope this helps,
Alan Cooney

shawneenet commentedAlan,
I am using latest version of Firefox 2.0 and IE7. . . . Am attaching screenshot of the menu item, so you can see how it's placed at the extreme right of the page.... Should be inline with the banner image, adjacent to Main text area.
I will apply the color changes as instructed. Thanks,
Still hoping to get things lined up.
Thanks for helping.

Alan Cooney commentedOk Dave, well to move the right sidebar inline with the text you can change the following in style.css:
to something like:
(the margin is added to give some space between the right sidebar and main content.
Comment #6
shawneenet commentedHi Alan,
I tried to site-slogan change as you suggested (actually had already tried that) . . . But still shows up black.
.site-slogan {
font-size: 1.5em;
color: #CCCC33;
display: block;
margin-left: 32px;
font-style: italic;
font-weight: bold;
I suppose some other style is taking precedence. Suggestions?
Comment #7
shawneenet commentedThank you, Alan...
It worked.
Can you tell me how to shorten the length of the Gray Menu Bar that also extends to far right?
So it's lined up with the right sidebar?

Comment #8
Alan Cooney commentedAdd this #primary in style.css:
width:800px;Also the site slogan should be #site-slogan not .site-slogan.
On a general note, what are you trying to acheive here? To shift the whole page to the left rather than centering it you only have to change #wrapper.
Comment #9
shawneenet commentedAlan,
Thank you for staying with me on this.... The fixes you suggest were implemented successfully.
However, you are right to ask what am I trying to achieve.
I do want the whole thing centered, but when I first installed it, everything appeared from flush left to furthest right. Now that everything's joined together, I'd like it to be centered.
Sorry to be a bother. I would be happy to compensate you for helping me out.
Besides centering, I'd like to change the sidebar (both left and right) and menu bar colors from gray to green-brown.
When those things are done, I plan to add more blocks.
Drupal is very powerful; I'd like to use it effectively, but am not very familiar with CSS.... Using Dreamweaver and trial and error mostly.
thanks again for your help so far.

Alan Cooney commentedHi again Dave,
Your problem seems to be that you are using a different version of page.tpl.php than that which is supplied with the theme. This also explains why you have been having a hard job changing things in the stylesheet; half the id's and classes that I have used are different to the ones on your site, so much of the styling remains inactive.
Please check you have the correct version of page.tpl.php. It should begin with:
If you do then check this file has appropriate permissions. If not then it may be easiest to just download the theme again and reinstall it.
Also, you may find the Firefox web developer toolbar (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60) helpful when styling your site. It has tools that enable you to easily see the properties of different elements, and which classes and ids are theming them.
I hope this works for you!
Also if you wish to make a donation that would be very much appreciated. My paypal account is avioso#1avioso.com ( replace #1 with @).

shawneenet commentedThanks for the tips.
I have installed the Add-on toolbar, and changed admin privileges on Aviso Page.tpl.php to include EXECUTE.
(Had been only Read and Write). Giving it a value #744. . . .
Is that what you mean? If so, I guess I'm good to go . . . but don't be surprised to hear from me again. ;-)
Will leave a tip at PayPal.

Alan Cooney commentedThanks Dave,
It might be worth trying more generous permissions (say 755).
Basically what is happening is that your Drupal installation is defaulting to the generic page.tpl.php (http://api.drupal.org/api/file/modules/system/page.tpl.php/6/source) rather than that of the theme.
If this doesn't can you think of anything that you have changed that may have caused this? It may be that the phptemplate theme engine has been corrupted (found in /themes/engines/phptemplate), or equally it may be an error with the server. There are some methodological approaches for finding this out but let me know if the above permissions change works first because these are quite long-winded.
I hope this helps!
Alan
