I have three websites all on the same server all using the same ffmpeg executable. Two of the sites worked fine and it converted allot of files already. The third website doesn't want to work at all from the beginning. Now the second website also stopped working but the third one is still working so it cannot be the ffmpeg executable. Where and how do I check what is wrong so I can post it here so that someone can help me please. My whole site works with that so please help me.

Title: Flashvideo not working » Flashvideo stopped working

All three websites have exactly the same settings and the same folder permissions and and but only one site is working. How can all the settings be the same and only one site working. How can the site work for a certain period and then suddenly stop. This makes no sense. Please can someone help me with this?

So is this module not supported anymore? How does one get help now? Seems this module is no longer supported in the forums. You have to pay now to get any help. Ah well it was a great module while we could use it and got support for it. Now we just gopt to find something else.

I would imagine the owner of this project is relatively busy working on his new MediaFront module...

Also, given the information you've provided, it's going to be rather hard to pin point this...
Module incompatibilities perhaps? if all the sites are indeed identical, then this is going to probably end up being relatively obscure... try turning on debug logging and check the log data?

Anyhow, if you can't stand to do more debugging than that... well, depending on what you're looking for, try investigating the Video module, or the Media Mover module (in combination with a video player of some sort? MediaFront, SWFTools, JW Player, Dash Player... etc)

How do I check the database or the log? Where do I find the log for flashvideo. I did turn it on but I don't know how to access it please help and thanks for the info

Vector-’s picture

Most of the debug data ends up in the ffmpeg_data table in the database... I believe with logging on it should also record the ffmpeg command to the data field of each row

It's a start at least... if that doesn't provide any useful information... well, my usual response would be to turn on Devel and start placing dsm's to figure out where things are breaking down...

I checked the ffmpeg_data table and since I don't know what to look for the only thing I could see that was different is the last 5 entries and more or less when the problem started has a status of 0 where the others are 1. What should I look for now?

I would assume you've already checked the dblog for any other insightful errors? Just figured I'd ask ;)

Anyhow,
'Log Conversion Data.' (FlashVideo Universal Settings) should push the entire ffmpeg command out to the 'data' field of the 'ffmpeg_data' table

You would then want to try executing those ffmpeg commands and seeing if they work on their own

If the ffmpeg commands aren't working... did you upgrade your ffmpeg perhaps?
- FlashVideo needs a few changes to work with the latest ffmpeg versions
Or change the ffmpeg command line in the FlashVideo settings at all?
- Not sure what else might cause that, but this should give you a good place to start, if this is the problem...

If they are working outside of Drupal...
- I'm a bit at a loss... are you running things in Windows perhaps, and going over the PHP max_execution_time? (shell_exec in Linux pauses the execution timer, not in Windows)
- If you're running on a hosting account, perhaps you've been restricted?
- PHP settings perhaps? Kinda a long shot, since most people don't end up with this stuff even vaguely working without going through a pretty solid checklist, but doesn't hurt to ask ;)

Really... not much else I can come up with, if this isn't helpful... if you're comfortable modifying PHP code, I'd start with placing several debug statements into flashvideo_convert, and go from there...

PS: Using CCK FileField?
If you are, there are some FileField configurations that might cause dblog errors, but those should be indicated in the dblog as PHP errors...

Hi

I have not checked the dblog and please explain to me how to do it.

I am using a hosting account running Linux and have a couple of sites running and three are using flashvideo. Two are not working but one is working and they all have the same settings and that is why I am confused. I have updated all modules on all the sites and still only the one's flash video is working fine.

I really appreciate your help. Are you a developer?

The dblog is located at /admin/reports/dblog - also known as the menu entry 'Administer > Reports > Recent Log entries'

It rather sounds like a FlashVideo CCK issue I recently ran into as well - if so, I see you filed this against 6.x-1.5-rc5...

FlashVideo CCK in 6.x-1.5 has a handful of problems... it goes something along the lines of, if you add a field used by FlashVideo to another content type, FlashVideo will stop working if the field is a single value field, and I think there's something that happens under particular conditions with multiple value fields as well...

Most (but not all) of these problems have been cleaned up in 6.x-1.x-dev - there are several fixes in the current dev release that may relate to your problems

I've also posted a handful of patches against still outstanding FlashVideo CCK issues, though I can't promise they don't have bugs of their own :p
#812510: Proper token generation for FileField paths without 'Convert video immediately'
#812562: Making flashvideo_import respect FileField path settings for original video

And a few other outstanding issues I recall dealing with in getting all the bugs I could find worked out:
#481116: Removing a video and re-attaching it does not work when CCK options are in use
#453722: Field to specify thumbnail time on video upload

As for your other question, a developer of FlashVideo? I am not, just another user :)

Hi

My question actually was suppose to mean Are you a developer but not specifically for flashvideo? In other words what do you do for a living?

Thanks for all the info I am going to go through it and will let you know. Thanks a great deal for all your help.

Category: bug » support

Changing this to a support request - as I'm reasonably sure this is related predominantly to issues that have been fixed in the development snapshot, or are already covered elsewhere.

This should also probably get some sort of status update?
Not sure what to set it to though, so I'll leave that for someone else.

As for your other question... I think the real answer is that I should update my profile, thanks :)
