Views intergration

How difficult would it be to add Views integration?

For example, creating views of nodes that are filtered by URL aliases (provided by "Find URL Alias").

One scenario would be:

Pathauto is configured to add "node-type/year/month/date" to all story nodes' url aliases (e.g., http://example.com/story/2007/6/23/name-of-my-story). A user would then be able to create, with Views, a list of all stories created in a particular month of a year; essentially creating archive views of stories filtered by the stories' url aliases.

Is this the right approach? Adding something like hook_views to the Find URL Alias module?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?
