With the increasing use of mobile devices that do not support Flash, and the increasing use of HTML5, this module will probably have a better future integrating with jPlayer (http://drupal.org/project/jplayer) to keep up with more current methods of presenting media files.

No problem. The maintainer of MP3 Player is putting all D7 implementation into jPlayer and has discontinued development for MP3 Player, so this may be one of those 'must do's' to keep your module alive.

For sure, my first objective was getting the module contributed, I will start work on the D7 release soon.
