Feed nodes will lose their processing options (in particular the kind of node they're supposed to create) when they are updated from outside the node edit screen. To recreate this bug:

1. Go to admin/content/node
2. filter to select your feed nodes
3. select one of them which has a specific set of processing options (rather than the defaults)
4. publish or promote or sticky it using the operations drop down at the top of the node list.
5. edit your feed node to see that the processing options have been reset to the defaults.

I could not reproduce it, it had been fixed.
