Apparently when search engines see hundreds (potentially thousands) of deleted nodes that get 404'd that results in poor SEO.
The general idea is that when someone clicks "add comment" (or maybe rates it) it becomes a node. The commenting/rating could also even trigger an expiration date to be set (potentially to never)
