I have read the new readme that comes with feedapi_inherit and I still can't get this working. I can't understand if I'm missing steps or it just isn't working.
I have done this:
1) Enabled a vocabulary for content type "feedapi_node"
2) In feedapi_node I have turned on the inherit process, left it's weight at 0 and given the node processor a weight of 1 and set the content-type of the items to "feedapinodes" (see #3)
3) I have a custom Feed item node content type (feedapinodes) - my upgrade install did not generate the type mentioned in the feedapi_inherit read me that it called "feedapi_item". I enabled the same vocabulary as for feedapi_node. In my custom type I enabled the inherit processor because it sounds like that is what I am supposed to do in the second to last bullet in the feedapi_inherit readme
4) I created a new feed using "feedapi_node" and set the selected vocabulary to the desired values.
5) Whenever I make changes to try to get it working, I purge items and refresh.
Nothing is inherited.
I am also not entirely understanding the purpose of the FeedAPI "categories" - they don't seem to map to a known vocabulary.
Thanks for any help out of my confusion.

djsdjs commentedOK, I see that I read the readme file statement "Set its weight higher than the weight of FeedAPI Node Item processor" to mean "set it's PRIORITY higher" - by setting it's weight higher I am setting it's priority lower (argh). I have corrected this, but get the same results.

alex_b commentedBe aware that the content type settings on enabled/disabled and weight don't have an effect on existing nodes of this content type. This is a bug and is reported here:
http://drupal.org/node/184324
Does your problem occur for new nodes, created after configuring the content-type correctly?
