The custom categories or fields for the profile do not have links to edit these fields in the edit your account section.?

In template.php

replace:

function _phptemplate_variables($hook, $vars) {
.....the code in function
}

with the below

function phptemplate_preprocess_page(&$vars) {
$vars['tabs2'] = menu_secondary_local_tasks();

// Hook into color.module
if (module_exists('color')) {
_color_page_alter($vars);
}
}
