I've this problem now on two different sites using different search api backends (mysql, solr)

Date facet shows (10) for 2009. When selecting the filter it gives 67 results (http://www.asylumlawdatabase.eu/en/case-law-search?f[0]=field_date_dd%3A...)

Facet API doesn't generate the facet counts, so I would post this against the backend module you are using.
