This is a very low priority for me personally, however I think it is very important for the Drupal search community as a whole. If Search API integrated with Facet API, custom facet code and configuration would be universal across all major search projects. A corresponding task has been posted against Search API at #1182614: Integrate with Facet API. I would be willing to assist anyone who wants to take up this effort. Please post if interested.

As said, I sadly have little time at the moment for anything besides bug fixes.

However, I agree this would be a great way to go forward, so anyone who wants to try this could count on my support, too.

This discussions are happening over at Search API, and most of the work is being done in that project as well. Marking as "duplicate" since there is no need for two threads.

Well, the integration is done, but neither module has a non-dev release that incorporates the changes. Once that happens, please post a separate issue with the "Documentation" component and point out the specifics of where the documentation is out of date. Re-closing this issue since the actual tracking of the integration is happening in Search API.
