This has been fixed by 2 new releases:

This will make sure sites older than Drupal 10.1 can only upgrade to version 2.0.10 and not further, to a release that does not break their site.
Newer Drupal installations will be able to upgrade to 2.0.11 and beyond, to keep getting updates to this module.

Hopefully this fixes any sites that might have been throwing errors.
