Select entities on a views page instead of widget in node edit form

Hi all,

I'm having difficulties in getting the ERVW to work in the node edit form. The throbber spins indefinitely after clicking "Add items" and the widget doesn't seem to show up even after blindly waiting for 15 minutes.

The scenario is as below:
1) Two content types: Cars, Spares.
2) References: Cars can have unlimited Spares. Widget set to Autocomplete (with tags) after failing (as described above).

I thought of a workaround and this was what I did; I created a views page (spares browser) with an attachment on top of it (that lists spares attached to the car).

When I selected the spares and clicked submit, the throbber spins and stays on the page and the spares are not loaded into the car.

Any idea? Change form destination?
