Applying the installation and configuration as mentioned, the widget does not shows a popup window which is empty, except from the two buttons 'add selected items' and 'add items and close window' and the link 'select all'. For the rest, it is empty.
Tried different settings without luck.

I experience a similar behaviour in an installation using the openfolio profile (https://drupal.org/project/openfolio).
You can reproduce it with a drupal installation using openfolio profile and upgrading Entity Reference View Widget.

I have the same problem. I get the right output in the views preview but nothing is printed inside the modal, instead.
Don't know what kind of information to add here, as i already said the view itself is working, so i guess the export won't help in my situation.

I can see 2 buttons on your screenshot, this was changed in some of the last commits. We also made some other fixes to the module. Please try the most recent dev release and report if you are still facing such an issue.

I am experiencing the exact same issue with entityreference_view_widget 7.x-2.x-dev and Views 7.x-3.8.

I verified that the Views Display does render properly from within Views.

The Display does have Current OG Group from Context contextual filter.

I had a similiar issue and had to pull out the contextual filter I had set. Once that was pulled out everything showed up fine.
