Drupal 7.26
After upgrading entity 7.x-1.0-rc3 to entity 7.x-1.3 (also 7.x-1.0, 7.x-1.1 or 7.x-1.2) I get:

EntityMalformedException: Permission to create a node was requested but no node type was given. a entity_metadata_no_hook_node_access() (line 665 of /sites/all/modules/entity/modules/callbacks.inc)

The update is recommended as a security update

Yes. Some modules were passing a wrong parameter to entity_access() (a string rather than an entity). This used to fail silently but now throws an exception.

See: https://drupal.org/node/2177497 for the change notice.
And: https://drupal.org/node/1780646 for the issue discussion.

There is a patch at https://drupal.org/comment/8350335#comment-8350335 to provide more info in the watchdog log to find out which module has the bug that is causing the exception.
