Though I am using the system deaults Root directory selection (sites/default/files), elFinder is appending the site name to the path when it attaches an image thus ...

C:\wamp\www\J4M/J4M/sites/default/files

The /J4M just before sites is not needed. Can elFinder be told not to do this?

This is also fouling its function when using it to insert images inline on my local machine and then pushing that dtabse load to the production server where the root directory is a different name.

I have the same problem with CKEditor 7.x-1.13 and Elfinder 7.x-0.8.
I tested various posible solutions but nothing worked! I tried:
- To modify $base_url in sites/default/settings.php
- To change RewriteBase in .htaccess
- Different combinations in CKFinder directory options, under CKEditor configuration.

Now, I'm trying to solve the issue through test and error with absolute/relative URL options in Elfinder configuration page.

I will notify if I obtain any kind of solution!
