Editor API exposes a clean, complete REST write API on a Drupal 11 site — /api/editor/v1 — so that Editor for Drupal & Statamic, the iOS app, can browse, write, publish and restore content from a phone. Open to any client you want to build. No hosted service, no sync, no middleman: your site is the only backend.
What you get
- Drafts by default, publishing on purpose. A write saves a draft; publishing is an explicit action with its own endpoint.
- Revisions. Full history and restore, through Drupal's own revisions.
- Your permissions, untouched. Tokens are tied to real Drupal users, and every request goes through entity and field access: what a user may do in the admin UI, they may do through the API — no more.
- Conflict detection.
X-Base-Modifiedguards every write: two editors can't silently overwrite each other. - The whole surface. Nodes, media (upload included) and taxonomy terms, plus the blueprint of each content type so clients render forms dynamically. HTML bodies keep their text format.
- Same contract as the Statamic addon. One app, both CMS: envelopes, capabilities and error codes match ppcharlier/statamic-editor-api.
Requirements
- Drupal 11, PHP 8.3+
- Core modules: node, taxonomy, media, file, path, text, options, datetime
Status
Alpha: the /api/editor/v1 contract is stable, the module is still settling. Development also happens on GitHub.
Free and open source (GPL-2.0-or-later). Built as the backend of Editor for Drupal & Statamic, the iPhone and iPad app.
