only the caption is inserted into the rich editor when i click the insert image button. is this normal? the image is shown as any imagefield set to display does. should the display fields be set to hidden for this imagefield since it is being inserted into the body?
also i cannot find where to make the change to tiny_mce.js and tiny_mce_src.js for floating.

pierremarcel commentedThe caption issue I'm not sure why, I haven't come across this kind of issue, perhaps some issue with your site.
The display fields, by design has to be set hidden, otherwise you'll get all your images printed on top of the node and through your node when inserting them. You can leave it showing and don't check the list button on your node but I don't see a reason why.
I'm not sure what you mean by the floating thing, but if it's to have the text wrap around the image just use image properties within tinyMCE "align =left/right..."
Hoppe this can help.

avpadernoThe module has been discontinued (see #665298: Deprecate Easy Image Insert module).
