the devel module comes with a content generaterator (devel_generate) which cna be used to create dummy content ... and as an added bonus you get the devel module :)

Hi,

Yes, I'm aware of Devel generate. Dummy Content is a pretty different approach: the point is for modules to be able to provide 'their own' dummy nodes as soon as they are enabled - this allows these modules to come with, more or less, pre-defined content out of the box, that gives the site some initial structure, and showcases the module's functionality. Devel's content generation is also pretty limited.

I've updated the project page with a thorough description of what this module provides; I think this should be enough to clarify the differences with Devel Generate, so I'm closing this issue. Feel free to re-open if further discussion is required!
