It does not work with D8. It does not define version correctly. I see that constant VERSION has been removed from the bootstrap. New style is https://drupal.org/node/2082661.

I see that this function is not defined.

Drush has moved to GitHub. Please abandon the 8.x-6.x branch, and instead check out the master branch from GitHub.
