If I run drush up, it goes through the usual steps (checks all my modules, tells me I need a core update, etc.), then asks Do you really want to continue with the update process?

If I type Y and press enter, drush then just hangs. I left it there for over 15 minutes, and nothing happens.

This even happens if I run it using sudo. This is on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 server.

top reveals that there's no significant CPU or disk usage.

I've attached a copy of the screen output.
