Screen Buffer Issue Hides Username Prompt

I have a make file that pulls several private repositories from git. For the first couple requests, drush make displays the "Username" and "Password" prompts correctly. But, it does not clear the buffer after the second request and so the third prompt for username is not displayed. Instead, it appears to hang on the preceding step. I can then type the username blindly and press enter, which forces it to prompt for password. It would be nice if all prompts are displayed properly.
