Happily running D7 rc1 with clean urls (though when I first upgraded to rc1, clean URLs generated 404 page for about 1 hour, then refresh and it worked correctly).

Upgraded to rc2, and clean urls again failed. Waited an hour, cleared all caches, reloaded, no joy. Rinse & repeat. Same result.
