When uncompressing the drupal-7.0-rc1.tar.gz the created folder is not visible in a browser with my apache configuration (when a drupal-6.x.tar.gz is visible following the same steps).

If this line is commented in the .htaccess, all works fine:

@mikyatope : I'm not sure to well understand what you want to say by "the created folder is not visible". Is it to list all the files (and child folders) of the folder?
As Droplet underlines, the line you've commented is to make Drupal more secure...
