Hi there, i came across a very difficult problem about http://www.website-hosting-servers.net.

1) The site will not allow login or even creat an account.
2) can't login ID1 acoount (admin).
3) it will display a forbiden message and goes off-line for a while each time you try to login as admin or other user inside the database.

i have change the line in settings.php to TRUE to reset user without success.

site was still in ver 6.16 before it all stated.

what can i do to get the site working normally again?

Hi,

You can try to fix this directly at the backend db. The first task would be to gain control of the admin account (the UID for which is 1 by default during Drupal installation)

To directly reset your password, log into phpMyAdmin and execute the following mySQL statement:

UPDATE users SET pass = md5('newpassword') WHERE uid = 1;

Enter your new password in the md5 function - it will automatically be converted via a one-way hash (this is why we can't retrieve your old password - the decryption is a one-way process). Note that for earlier versions of Drupal you may need to use SET password, instead of SET pass.

This will effectively reset the Drupal admin password for user 1. Note that you can use this to reset the password of any user, although this is typically unnecessary as you should be able to simply log in as admin user (user 1), under which you have the ability to reset any user's password.

I'm very new to Drupal, developing locally --version 7, and can't login as administrator on a site I could access just yesterday.

When attempting a login received the message: 'Sorry, unrecognized username or password.'

Actions I've taken so far:

1. In the DB went to users table, entered new password and ticked MD5 in the functions column.

2. Was over 5 attempts so cleared flood table: 'DELETE FROM `flood`;

3. Cleared browser cache.

4. Unsuccessful login attempt: 'Sorry, unrecognized username or password.'

5. Was referred to this thread by IRC

6. UPDATE users SET pass = md5('newpassword') WHERE uid = 1;

7. Set 'newpassword'

8. Cleared cache … still can't login 'Sorry, unrecognized username or password.'
