Shouldn't it be automatic already?

I'll try a manual update as I did already from alpha to beta1. Maybe a side effect from there.

automatic update is only for contrib modules.

you will have to do an manual update or with the aplicacion drush.

Proceeded with a manual update:

1. emptied the drupal installation directory (drastic and complete!)
2. Copied the beta2 (is it true, that ther is no more .htaccess?)
3. started drupal 7 and procided database access settings
4. started the site and logged in as admin
5. stated the suggested uograde procedure:

I am using Postgres as Database system.
