The most common resolution for monitors is now 1680px wide (rather than 1280px). In addition, 1920px is pretty common these days as well. The max-width for the Garland theme is set to 1270px wide, which looks pretty awkward on a modern monitor. Being able to take advantage of the extra screen real estate would be nice rather than being locked into a narrow column in the middle. I would like to suggest that the max-width be removed for the theme, or as an alternative, changed to 1670px, now that 1680px is the standard resolution.
The css is defined in garland/style.css on line 357:
#wrapper #container {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0 20px;
max-width: 1270px;
}

dddave commentedHi kaldari,
in general feature requests go against the version which is currently developed.

kaldari commentedThanks for the info! I'm attaching a proper patch now.

kaldari commentedThe patch only affects the "fluid width" option, BTW.
