Sometime in the last several weeks, the overlay got much darker. It's now almost black, which defeats the purpose of the overlay.

See this early sketch?
a screenshot of what the overlay will look like, created by Mark Boulton and Leisa Reichelt. The page underneath is clearly visible.

The idea is that the user of the overlay understands that they are in an overlay, hovering over the page they were just on. And when they close the overlay, they will return to where they started.

When the overlay is too dark, this idea of staying in place / understanding where you are goes away. Especially since people have a wide range of computer monitors, and a wide range of ability to see contrast, for many users they will think this is a solid black page.

Let's lighten it up.
