I have just setup MAMP and wanted to configure Clean URLs.
I don't seem to have a .htaccess file in my Drupal installation, so not sure if I should be looking at this to cause. I have modified the http.conf with below:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
I have restarted the services but still have a grey radio button in configuration.
Apologies as I am a newbie to Drupal ..... :-)

Please use the .htaccess from drupal project.
also you need to enable "mod rewrite" module in apache,

In addition there are loads of docs about enabling clean URLs in the handbook.
