Documentation problem with user_external_login

It looks like user_external_login was removed on this issue:
#497612: Harden user login - move user_load() to submit handler

And they should have documented what to do on the module update page, but they didn't:
http://drupal.org/update/modules/6/7

So I am going to reopen that other issue to ask that it be documented on the update page, and close this issue as a duplicate of that issue.
