The documentation states that when a form is submitted its values are available in the array

$form_values['controlname']

this, however, is incorrect (in drupal 6.13). The array where it's found is

$form_values['values']['controlname']

I don't know starting from which version it changed, but this should be on the drupal website's documentation. I spent hours looking around, until evenutally I was directed here after a deep google search:

Please disregard this issue, I was [unknowingly] reading drupal 5 documentation. I checked and drupal 6 documentation states this change accurately.
Excuse my fault, I will pay more attention in the future.
